Presentation: The Significance of Astronomy in Astrology
Speaker: Gregory Clare
Join us at the October meeting for a special online only workshop with Greg Clare. It will be an opportunity to discover how astronomical concepts deepen understanding of astrological archetypes and their modifications within the cosmic order. Topics covered will include:
Archetypes
Fundamental qualities explained through key concepts and vocabulary.
Celestial Equator
Understanding declination, parallels, contra-parallels, and Out of Bounds, and their influence on how celestial bodies appear from Earth.
Ecliptic & Lunar Path
Explore the Dragon’s Path, lunar latitude, and nodes:
o North Node: Moon rising, bending, descending from above
o South Node: Moon lowering, bending, ascending from below
Examine planetary latitude and orbital planes as seen from Earth.
Stars & Planets
Visual phenomena:
o Heliacal Rising: Morning rise of celestial bodies before the Sun
o Vespertine: Evening setting of celestial bodies after the Sun
Lunar Modification
How the Moon’s ecliptic latitude and declination alter archetypes, considering Earth’s axial tilt and the Moon’s orbital inclination.

Speaker bio
Gregory Clare has been an active and respected voice in the Australian astrological community for more than three decades. He served as President of both the Sydney Astrological Research Society Inc. (2006–2014) and the Astrology Association of New South Wales Inc. (2007–2014), and was a member of the National Council of the Federation of Australian Astrologers Inc.
His dedication to teaching and mentoring led him to the role of Director and Instructor on the USA Administrative Board of the International Academy of Astrology.
A long-standing member of the Association of Australian Professional Astrologers Inc., Gregory brings a depth of knowledge and a passion for astrology that continues to inspire students and colleagues alike.
His writings have been featured in respected publications including The FAA Journal (Federation of Australian Astrologers Inc.), The Mountain Astrologer (TMA), and the USA Geocosmic Journal (National Council for Geocosmic Research Inc.), among many others.
